Located on the Strait of Beagle, Ushuaia in Argentina in the area of Tierra Del Fuego is the southernmost city in this entire world. This place earlier had a missionary base earlier,  a penal colony  and was the naval base for the Argentine Navy. Today it is a major tourist town with beautiful casinos and lovely restaurants which are used as a great base for hiking and for Antarctica cruises and also for major  winter sports.

Come to the Tierra Del Fuego national park and the Lapataia Bay. The park is approachable by the highway or the End of the World Train which is also known as Tren Del Fin Del Mundo.  The Yamana museum here is a settlement for the English and the Argentineans and was a prison colony earlier. Ushuaia is a place with great wildlife so you can find seals, local birds, penguins, orcas and many beautiful wild animals. Daily buses and boat tours go to Haberton . There are tours which take you to the Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse. This is many a time mixed up with the Lighthouse at the End of the World which was very popular in the Jules Verne novel. This Lighthouse at the end of the world lies on the eastern part of Ushuaia on the Isla de los Estados or the Staten Island.

Ushuaia is a great ski zone and has many glaciers like the Glacier El Martial and Cerro Castor. This has been existing since the year 1999. This is also the southernmost ski point in the world and is a place where you can ski just 200m above the sea level. The skiing season here is good as the temperature is consistently cool here. Cafetarias, ski school, mountain huts and first aid rooms are there around in the skiing zones . Cerro Castor also has facilities for snowboarding , snowshoeing and sledding. Alpine skiing is also greatly practiced here. June to October is the best time for skiing. There are chairlift operations in the summer months that encourage ski adventurists to practice skiing. There are hiking trails which give the tourists a great exciting time as they lead to the base of the glacier from the city. In fact, the Antarctic Museum of Ushuaia has many photographs on display which show the way the glacier is beating a retreat of late.

While here , a person can see many important places and monuments. The Museo Maritomo has a great collection of the Tierra Del Fuego history. The admission here includes the entry into the Presidio which is on the same place as the el Museo Maritimo.

The Presidio is a museum of the Ushuaia military prison. There is one portion of the museum which has been transformed into a gallery with the work of various artists featured.

Then there is the Museo del Fin Del Mundo which is a museum highlighting the greatest bird collection from the Tierra del Fuego which is also the figurehead of the Duchess of Albany. This was a sunken vessel of the past. There is a library here which is dedicated to the past history and also describes the type of land that Tierra Del Guego is.

Go to the Estancia Haberton which is a tourists spot open only during the months of summer. This is a great trip and is one which introduces the tourist to the Bridges family.

Beautiful scenes, beautiful trips make up a trip to Ushuaia more memorable and eventful.
